black gold sun studios x riónce
context | how this conversation began
over the last couple of weeks, annie and i have been speaking openly about where things stand.
annie has been covering a £1,200 monthly rent while also juggling freelance work and setting up a second studio in bristol. march and april were mentioned as potentially quieter months.
at the same time, riónce ladywell has been temporarily closed, which means i have residents who need somewhere dependable to work from. i currently have around 6-8 days a month, of resident studio usage that needs placing.
the timing aligned.

annie said what would make things feel calmer is simply not having to cover the full rent alone .
ryianna is already managing bookings and instagram on a 60 / 40 split.
i specialise in structured monthly residencies.
everyone is doing their best, but everyone is stretched.
-
ryianna currently manages the studio bookings and runs the instagram for black gold sun.
the existing structure is simple:
60% of bookings go to annie
40% of bookings go to rihanna
rihanna handles enquiries, scheduling, posting and the general booking process. she has played a key part in keeping the studio active.
this proposal does not remove her from that role.
instead, it protects it.
– rihanna continues managing adhoc bookings and packages
– non riónce bookings remain 60% annie and 40% rihanna
– rihanna can earn referral commission on residents she introduces
the intention is clarity, not replacement.
-
riónce is structured around memberships and residencies.
my model is not based on random one off bookings. it is based on monthly commitments from working creatives who need consistent space.
what i bring is:
– structured resident intake
– application and screening process
– monthly payments
– accountability and consistency
– cross promotion across my network
this creates predictable usage rather than last minute bookings.
-
without structure:
– annie carries rent risk
– income fluctuates month to month
– rihanna only earns when bookings happen
– my residents have no stable base
with structure:
– there is guaranteed baseline income
– adhoc remains protected
– residents have dependable access
– stress reduces
– growth becomes intentional rather than reactive
-
this is not a takeover or a rescue mission.
this is three people with different strengths trying to build something that reduces instability.
if it grows, we all win.
